Safe Removal of a Protected Douglas Fir

This protected Douglas Fir had sadly gone into decline and posed a significant safety risk, being located right next to a major road. The property owners applied to the council for permission to remove the tree and were granted approval, with strict instructions that the work must be carried out by a qualified tree surgeon. That’s when they contacted Elementree Care.

The agreed works involved the safe removal of the tree and grinding out the stump. The homeowners were particularly concerned about the possibility of nesting birds within the tree. We reassured them that we would thoroughly check for any active nests before starting the job, ensuring that wildlife was protected.

Once we had the go-ahead from the client and confirmed there were no nesting birds, we carefully dismantled the tree section by section, bringing it down safely to ground level. With help from a local farmer, who provided a skip and transported the waste to be used as biofuel, we ensured the entire process was both safe and environmentally responsible.

While it’s always sad to see a mature tree removed, safety had to come first in this situation. The result was a safer environment for both the property owners and road users, with the reassurance that the material was repurposed in an eco-friendly way.
